Chronicles of the Fox

Part 4: Raiding the Lost Temple
The heroes defeat the man who would be a god.

A few days later Anderson awoke to the stale damp darkness of a village root cellar. Placed there in liu of burial until his body could be returned home. Climbing out and into the light of day the immortal man was greeted withnfear and suspicion by the villagers who saw his return from death as a grim omen layed atop their already fearsome plight.

Reunited with Aneka the two heroes convinced the village to stay their hand and soare Anderson so that they could explore the temple of Ku-Tu and hopefully end the threat once and for all. With the help of Anthony Norris, the Doctor’s assisstant, they located the cursed temple and began to explore the acient ruin. Anneka was able to discern that the temple’s guardians had been destroyed by age and were no longer able to act to keep Ku-Tu contained.

Delving into the darkness of the ruin the pair fought past traps and puzzles and stillk more transformed villagers in the form of jaguar servants. Deep withi the temple they found the cursed holding place of the twisted god and destroyed the temple used to sacrifice victims to him. After doing so the pair were attacked by the animated forms of the heartless dead, whose still beating hearts had been removed and sacrificed in fire to Ku-Tu.

Pushing still deeper they confronted the evil god in his throne room facing him down in combat. Using ice magic Anneka and Anderson weakened and then destroyed Ku-Tu by smashing his power amulet and then atacking the weakened being, revealing him to be merely a man masquerading as a god.

Part 3: Curse of Ku-Tu, the Burning Sun

Several weeks later a request by wire is recieved at the British Museum. The message requests additional help from one Dr. William Rose in Central America. Dr. Rose believes that he has located a long forgotten and abandoned temple with the the rain forestes of the Yucatan.

Traveling via airship and then flying boat Anneka and Anderson soon reach the tiny villiage that acts as a staging point for the Doctor and his assistant. There they learn that the doctor is dead, killed by some savage attacker, possibly the same who attacked them in tne night during their journey from the coast. They speak with Anthony Norris, an art student and the doctor’s assisstant, who informs them that he had left the doctor alone at the temple when he returned to the town get supplies.

The little group tried to tak to the villagers who were very close mouthed about the temple claiming it to be cursed and blaming the recent disappearances on the doctor’s activities. Before they could go to investigate tne site where Dr. Rose’s body was found the village was set upon by a sorcerer riding a large flying disc and accompanied by two flying stone heads capable of shooting energy from their eyes.

During the battle the sorcerer was able to use magic of some kind, drawn from an amulet, to turn a villager into a jaguar creature. Overwhelmed, Anderson was killed after downing the sorcerer. Anneka was only able to triumph by creating a burst of anti-magic to destroy the remaining stone head and transform the villager back to normal.

Part 2: The Beast from Beyond

Several days later Anneka and Anderson received a call from a fellow Order member, one Frederick Walker, seeking Anneka’s expertise at a crime scene near the Thames. Joining Mr. Walker at the scene revealed a ritual gone wrong, with the remains of perhaps five individuals smeared across the basement summoning area.

Although the clues in the basement were insufficient to determine the specifics of the ritual, there was a tome, handwritten, containing notes in cipher and a great deal of magical formulae. Evidence upstairs indicated that somebody had escaped from the slaughter, but the tracks quickly led into the city streets where any hope of following was lost.

Anneka and Anderson returned to her home where she attempted to break the cipher on the tome but made little progress. As evening came the pair returned to the crime scene in hopes of finding an overlooked code book to help break the cipher. Though their search turned up fruitless they were on hand to hear a bloodcurdling scream in the nearby area. Racing to the scene they found a grisly sight as some sort of creature was feeding on the corpse of one of the area’s transients. The ensuing fight drove off the creature but gave the pair precious little clues as to what they were up against.

The next day was spent attempting to break the cipher once more, even going so far as to attempt to cross match with the Trojan history they had rescued the week prior. As evening rolled around there was precious little progress and the pair decided to go back to the area and try to confront the creature again. Their plan worked and another battle with the monster ensued before its injuries drove it back off into the water. Though they were unable to defeat the creature they did stop it from feeding that night and were able to collect a contaminated sample of the creature’s blood.

The following day Anneka used the blood sample to set about creating an enchanted item to defeat the creature with while in the evening Anderson sought out Mr Walker’s help in confronting the creature, this time using fire against the aquatic beast. Though there was some difficulty with the improvised firebombs the pair were able to harm the creature significantly and drive it off again, forcing it to be unable to feed once more.

The fourth night Anderson, Anneka, and Walker, armed with firebombs and the enchanted weapon, laid a final trap for the creature. The battle was well fought and brutal the creature finally attempting to flee but being subdued the in the process. With the aid of Anneka’s magic they were able to run it down in the river and dispatch the creature.

Taking it back to The Den they identified the creature as a Deep Spawn, a creature of water and darkness. With this knowledge Anneka was able to extrapolate the meaning of the magical formulae and, with Anderson’s help, over the next couple of weeks they broke the cipher on the ritual text. The author was clearly magically trained but was using incomplete ritual instructions and had been using trial and error to complete the ritual, resulting in a summoning that did not bind the Deep Spawn.

The pair now wonder if this is related to the Cult of Kar’Krados or is an entirely different source of forbidden magic…

Part 1: Dangerous Reading

While shopping on the Strand a bookseller’s shop was robbed and the proprietor, Reginald Weathersby III, was attacked and wounded. Anneka tracked down on of the two men, taking him captive with the assisstance of a Bobby, while Anderson did the same, easily subduing the second man in an alley way. The two men had stolen a number of books from the shoppe which Anneka identified as being tomes of specious value with regards to occult subjects.

One of the books was however genuine, a book with details for consorting with demonic powers. After identifying the two men as cultists worshipping the Order’s enemy, Kar’kradas Anneka sought the help of fellow members of the Order of the Fox, while Anderson, unaware of the larger forces at play staked out the shop after identifing a pair of men watching the shop after the incident.

Anneka returned to the shop that evening determined to investigate the bookseller’s rare books. While inside the store she was attacked by another thief who attempted to steal a tome from the storeroom. Anneka killed the man while outside Anderson dealt with the two cultists watching the building easily subduing them.

Leaving via the rear of the store Anneka encountered the thief’s getaway driver who promptly attacked her with a Tommygun. Anderson responded to the sound of gunfire and quickly things got out of control as Anneka attempted to escape to the Order’s hidden den, but was followed both by the gunman and Anderson.

Within the Den of the Fox the gunman was finally defeated by Anneka and Anderson working in tandem. Anderson, having seen the Order’s hidden Den was forced to join the Order…

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
